A little about little ol Me

I love writing about the sign industry and all of my experiences.

I thought why not introduce myself on a more personal level.

I am a mom of an almost 18 year old son.  Graduating class of 2024.  Let me tell you this kid has a beautiful genius mechanical mind.  I could never attempt to learn or know what he does.  NO chance of getting him to join the world of signs Ha!

I have a sister a couple years younger than me and a brother 13 years younger than me.  Obviously mom wasn't done.  My sister has 6 beautiful children and a new grandbaby.  Our family keeps getting bigger and we couldn't be more happy about it.  My brother probably decided long ago being an uncle at an early age that his sisters had enough kids for his lifetime.  My brother is an amazing hunter and fisherman so when he's not working he's outside doing something!

When i was going to community college I was working and also visiting my grandparents nearby to help with my Memaw who had Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.  We grew up in my grandparents house half of our life.  My Pop taught me how to be a hustler at billiards, and the last time we played together he was in his 80's.  He taught me how to play ping pong and get excellent at a free throw shot in basketball.  He was a part of the Elks Lodge his whole life and when I was young they sponsored me in a "Hoop Shoot Contest"  I placed 2nd in the state.  My Pop kept that article forever.  Needless to say him and I were super close.  As he got older I visited more and he always reminded me to be kind, work hard but take time to smell the flowers.  When it came time for him to leave his apartment he would argue with my mom about getting rid of his stuff so she would ask me to talk to him and everything went fine Lol.  He passed away at 94 in 2022.  He went to be with my Memaw, his brother and sister n law.  The four of them together again made it peaceful for all of us.

In other news, wanna know how I started in this journey of the sign world?!

It was a dark dreary night......   Just kidding

While i was in community college I had my own apartment and hung out with friends from work all of the time.  I met someone who worked near my apartment so I decided to stop by and say hi one day.  He worked at a small sign shop.  Let's just say after 30 seconds I knew I had to be a part of that world.  The second day I visited, I asked his boss to hire me for production or admin work, anything.  His boss said "You can't do this, you're a small girl."  For anyone who knows me now knows back then the look on my face to him probably said it all.  I replied "Let me work for free for a week and then you decide."

6 months later i was the manager and helping customers.  And the rest is history!  I love the sign industry still, 25 years later.  I love helping customers, supporting our teams and helping others in the field.  Let's Goooo!!!!!

Thanks for reading!  🤟
